Volunteer Information
Volunteer Opportunities at Leland
We need volunteers to help with the library, reading programs in the classrooms, tutoring, yard supervision, the Safety Valet program, Parent Center Support, preparing materials for students and teachers, copying, sorting, etc. There are also parent organization sponsored events including the Harvest Festival and also the Math and Literacy nights at the school. There are many ways in which you can help us grow at Leland!
How do I volunteer?
If you are working directly with students in your volunteer position you will need to fill out a volunteer application which includes a current TB test. Volunteer forms are provided in the office. The form will be sent for clearance with the district and you will be informed when you are able to volunteer.
Volunteering in the Classroom
If you would like to offer help a teacher in the classroom please speak directly with the teacher for a list of needs and available times.
School Library Volunteers
Our library is only staffed part time and relies on parent volunteers to keep it running during the rest of the time. If you can help in the library please contact the main office
The Safety Valet Program
This program is staffed by trained volunteers and has been created to assist student's at drop-off time and improve safety every morning. Duties include setting the SVP area up at 7:45 a.m. by placing the safety cones in the street and helping students out of their cars until the bell rings at 8:00 a.m. and then putting away the safety equipment. The school needs at least 2-3 volunteers/day for the school year. Even if you can only help for a day a week or a couple of days a month please sign up.

Parent organization
The parent organization offers multiple opportunities for volunteer work at Leland. We have a vibrant group that supports every student in many ways throughout the year. Last year the parents organized fundraisers and bringing special events and experiences for all students such as art projects with the Art to Grow On, Harvest Festival, Red Ribbon Week, and other assemblies and fun events.
If you would like to be more involved you can volunteer for a position on the board, or join one of the special committee groups to help with select planned events.
